Stroller Strides is a total fitness program that moms can do with their little ones. It includes walking, jogging, and intervals of body toning using exercise tubing and the stroller. The classes are taught by certified instructors (also moms) and are a great workout for all levels of fitness!
There are currently two Stroller Strides locations in Houston, NW Houston and coming soon Memorial. No matter what your location you are welcome to all Stroller Strides classes offered in the Houston area!
Stroller Strides Basic Information
- Getting Started
Choose a location and preferred class time. Register online at one of the two Houston area Stroller Strides websites, Stroller Strides NW Houston or Stroller Strides Memorial. Come and enjoy your free class! Be sure to arrive 5-10 minutes before class starts!
- What You Need
To participate in a Stroller Strides class you need a sturdy stroller (no umbrella strollers please), plenty of water for you and your little ones, sunscreen, and a towel or mat for ground exercises. Exercise tubing is provided. Other recommended items are hat or visor, bug spray, rain shield, stroller net, and a few toys to entertain your little ones (we do a lot of entertaining ourselves, but sometimes they prefer a toy).
- Houston tends to get a little hot and rainy…what is the bad weather policy?
In inclement weather situations, classes will be moved to an indoor location. Changes made to class times and locations will be posted at least one hour before class starts. You can also call Ami or Valerie if you have questions!
-When You Can Start
We require that new moms start classes no earlier than 6 weeks postpartum. Please be sure to get clearance from your doctor before exercising. Other than that you are welcome to start any time!
Some FAQ’s
-What if my child gets fussy?
Our first priority is the happiness of your baby. Tend to your baby first. Because we stop every few minutes for body toning, you can always catch up with us if you get behind. If your baby ever fusses so much that you miss a class, we will happily credit you another class.
-What if I can only make it to one class a week?
We are happy to have you no matter how often or little you can make it to class. Being a mom is tough and we understand it is difficult to balance mommy life with, well life! We will work with you to help design a workout plan that you can supplement your class with that won’t cut into your schedule!
-I’m not much of a runner, how much running do you actually do?
You are free to run or walk as much as you like. Our workouts are designed so that you can run or walk a certain distance to each station. We all start at the same time at each station so the runners can catch their breath and the walkers have time to make it! No mommy ever left is behind!
-I’m pregnant, would I be able to do the workout?
Absolutely! Our workouts are great for all levels of fitness and with some minor modifications can easily be done during pregnancy. Health studies today actually prove that not only will moms become more healthy with routine exercise, but so will your baby! Just please be sure to get doctor clearance before participating.
